Legal Basis
If the University requests consent for the processing of personal data from the data subject (e.g. general enquiries, contact form, login), Art. 6(1) lit. a GDPR shall serve as the legal basis.
Logging
Each time our website is accessed, the following data are stored in log files for the purposes of data security and statistical analysis:
- IP address
- Date and time of access
- User agent (browser used and operating system)
- Pages or content elements accessed
- Referrer URL (the previously visited page), if transmitted
The purpose of logging is to recognise, limit and eliminate malfunctions and to detect misuse in accordance with § 12(1) and (4) TDDDG. The IP addresses will not be merged with other data sets. The data will be stored for a maximum of seven days, after which they will be stored in anonymous form for website statistics. Our website uses the open-source software AWStats for website statistics. No personal data is stored.
Cookies
When you visit our website, so-called “session cookies” are placed and stored on your device. The legal basis for this is § 25 Abs. 2 TDDDG. Cookies are small text files that serve to make the website more user-friendly, effective, and secure. They do not cause any damage to your device and do not contain viruses.
Session cookies are generally deleted automatically at the end of your visit. You may deactivate the storage of cookies by adjusting the settings of your browser. Please note that if you do so, you may not be able to use all functions of our website to their full extent.
