Description: | Leaves entire, lanceolate. Flowers in spaced verticils in axils of diminished floral leaves, aggregated in terminal long inflorescences. Bracts linear, not pungent, very small. Calyx tubular-campanulate, with pungent teeth, teeth gradually narrowed into cusp 5-10 veins, (5 subequal teeth, or uppermost tooth wider than others,) without appendages, without long rigid hairs inside. Corolla irregular, bilabiate, pink or mauve, 12-23 mm long, with hairy ring inside; lower lip of corolla entire or bilobate, without horn-shaped projection, lateral lobes ovate, without denticle; upper lip of corolla concave helmetlike or vaultlike, or folded lengthwise, (quite often bent) slightly emarginate at apex, glabrous inside. Stamens 4; anthers with locules dehiscing lengthwise. |
