Description:Caudex with fibrous and lacerate residues; stem leaves conspicuous, horizontally spreading to spreading-erect, ca. 10-90 mm; heads with 7--12 florets.
Tax. Comments:Previously confused with S. divaricata, but in the latter stem leaves inconspicuous, only to ca. 10 mm and heads with 4 or 5 florets only.
